The thing about firsts...

The thing about stepping out in faith and experiencing those "firsts" in life is that you are always surprised. Two years ago I stepped out in faith and was unemployed for the first time since I was 16. Through the journey of 18 months of unemployment (during which my second baby was born), God taught me so much about faith and trust and experiencing life and doing what I love for those that I love.

There are so many "firsts" in our lives - the first kiss, the first love, the first baby, the first job, the first career change; each equally mysterious and scary and wonderful. This idea of doing photography as a side business is a "first" for me. It is mysterious, scary, exciting, energizing, and fun, but above all, just as I did when I became a teacher, I am doing something that I love and that is much more important than I ever believed that it would be. I tell my high school kids that true happiness comes when you do what you love regardless of what it is. I am living proof of that.

We had so much fun this evening. The girls only get to see each other about once a year, so this is always a fast, furious, and fun few weeks. I am looking forward to my nieces being closer to home again so that we can see them more often. Hope you enjoy this sneak peak!!

Here Goes Nothing!!

Okay, so call me crazy, but I have always had this dream that I could be a photographer. Everyone has always said "Oh Kerri! You have such an eye behind the camera!" or "You take really fabulous pictures!" It's not that I do not necessarily believe them; it's more that I have never had the guts to believe them and step out in faith. Well, I got a new fabulouso camera for Christmas, so I have decided to step out in faith and share some of those pictures whether anyone likes them or not! This is an exercise of faith for me, so here goes nothing!!
